I am a ride or die ranch girl. But in more recent years I have been addicted to blue cheese but not just any brand of blue cheese.
There is only one type of blue cheese I will have to stay tuned to find out.
There is no denying Hidden Valley Ranch is the best you can buy in stores but the true winners are the house ranch dressings that restaurants make. Consistency matters when it comes to ranch. If I’m at a restaurant and the ranch comes more “watery/liquidy” I know that ranch is about to be bomb. If you’re able to drizzle ranch like a syrup you’re good. Hidden Valley ranch however is not like that. It is more solid that I would prefer but it is still the best store bought brand there is. Now if you want to be risky you can change the consistency a bit by adding a little heavy cream. You gain that liquidy consistency but don’t lose any of the flavor. Ranch goes on everything and I mean everything. Hidden Valley just recently dropped a limited edition ice cream. You can see the verdict here. Does ranch belong in ice cream?
When I was younger I believed blue cheese to be moldy and wondered why anyone would want to eat moldy cheese. I stayed away from it but still tried it from time to time to see if my taste buds had changed. Because you are either a blue cheese dipper or a ranch dipper, especially when it comes to pizza and wings. And being from western NY there is a battle amongst ranch vs blue cheese lovers.
If you’ve made it this far then I bet you’re dying to know what brand of blue cheese I consider top tier. Canes blue cheese. Yes there you have it. It is locally sold at some pizza parlors near where I live, otherwise I have no idea where to buy this deliciousness. I have seen bigger containers of it sold in Hannafords etc but also have heard that it doesn’t taste the same as the small dipping containers that they give you at the pizza shop do. All in all if you ever see canes blue cheese get it. You won’t regret it.
