Playa Bowls in Ocean City, NJ

So many Playa Bowls!

Acai bowls have always intrigued me but never enough to actually buy one. Because it’s just a smoothie in a bowl right? WRONG. It is so much more than that. While on vacation in Ocean City, NJ there were so many places to get acai bowls all along the boardwalk.

Playa Bowls was tucked back into a food mall but it immediately caught my attention. Since I was on vacation I thought, what better time to try a bowl than now. There were so many different bowls to try and I had to educate myself on what everything meant… like what is acai? LOL. Acai is a berry that has a mixed flavor of berry and unsweetened chocolate. And if you’re wondering, it is delicious.

Throughout my time on vacation I had 3 different bowls, Pura Vida, Mango Berry, and Dragonberry. All three bowls were phenomenal but funny enough they were all the same. The only thing that changed was the playa base. So all three were topped with blueberry flax granola, strawberry, blueberry, and honey. These bowls were so delicious they were like a dessert. I couldn’t stay away. The playa base was like a smoothie then it was just topped with fresh fruit, granola, and covered in honey. So refreshing.

Playa Bowls has so many different bowls but also juices, smoothies, and coffees. The flavor that I didn’t get a chance to try but really intrigued me was the Green bowl which has the base as kale, banana, pineapple, and coconut milk blended together. There were bowls that were topped with peanut butter and nutella but I didn’t get around to trying any of those ones either. When it was time to leave and come home I could only help and think about where I would be able to get another bowl. I have yet to get one locally but I hope they will be just as good as Playa Bowls. I didn’t feel too terrible devouring these bowls because it’s fruit and it’s healthy right…?

Well needless to say I am a bowl lover now. My favorite was the mango, then the acai, and lastly the dragon fruit. But it’s not like I didn’t like any of them. I would gladly take any of those three right here right now. There’s just something about mango that always steals my heart.

Verdict: Yay
