Niagara Falls Eats: The Silo

The Famous Haystack

Lewiston NY is by far one of the cutest little towns New York has to offer. It is small, not congested, and close to attractions like Niagara Falls, Canada, Niagara University (if you’re a student), and the Niagara Gorge.

If you ever get to visit Lewiston, NY do not hesitate! There are many shops and restaurants on Main street but the true gem is at the bottom of the street in an old silo.

This silo was once functioning and operating that housed coal in the early 1900’s. It has since then been transformed to a restaurant called, The Silo Restaurant. It is only open for part of the year, starting May 1st-September 18th. The atmosphere is like no other. You may eat inside the silo gazing over the Niagara River or there are picnic tables out front to enjoy your meal.

This was already something that was a must eat but, Man vs. Food made it even more so, back when it was featured in an episode in 2010. They are most famous for their Haystack, which was featured on the episode!

What is a Haystack...?

What is a Haystack you ask? Well it is a Hoagie Roll with mayo, Rib-eye steak, melted mozzarella, and to top it off toasted hash browns. I like to add ketchup and extra mayo to mine. You have the option of getting a footlong if you’re feeling extra hungry. To make this all the better you have to get a Loganberry soft drink to wash it down with.

Once you finish polishing off the Haystack you need dessert! The silo has a desert option of ice cream but your next feat in Lewiston would have to be Hibbard’s Ice cream. Just up the street from the Silo. Trust me, go to Hibbard’s.

Verdict: Yay
