Easter Peeps Review

Easter is such a fun time of the year. It’s kind of like Halloween 2.0 in a sense.

Walking down the candy aisle in Walmart during Easter is a fun day adventure. You have all the Easter classics. From Peeps, to Cadbury Eggs, Jelly Beans, chocolate bunnies, Crème Egg, Reese’s Egg and SO much more.

I believe the most notorious Easter candy would have to be our beloved Peeps. Those classic yellow chicks. Peeps come in all shapes and sizes and are not an all year thing. They come and go for Easter. They are a cute idea. Fun little woodland creatures shaped marshmallows coated in colored sugar. They look so cute in the stores. It’s when you get them home to actually eat them the regret sets in.

As you go to take your first bite you are filled with excitement. It’s not until you have a mouth full of subpar marshmallow that you realize you need to look for a trashcan. The marshmallow in peeps is very different to a traditional marshmallow. It’s very fluffy and sticky and has a very distinct taste. I try them every year just to see if my taste buds have changed, and every year the answer remains the same…. no. I am not a Peep hater but they just aren’t for me.

But one interesting way to eat these marshmallow candies is to microwave them. Put a peep in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 min., and watch it grow (they get big), then take it out and eat immediately. If you let these microwaved peeps sit for a few minutes before enjoying them they will harden and become crispy. Which is another alternative way of eating them if that’s what you prefer.

Recently Peeps partnered with Pepsi. The result is, you guessed it…Peeps Pepsi

You can’t have Easter without Peeps and you can’t have Peeps without Easter. The two go hand in hand. If you are a peep lover don’t let anyone discourage you from enjoying some chicks or a bunny from time to time. Grab your peeps and have some peeps 😉

Verdict: Nay
